Federal court here we come The post-session lawsuit count keeps on rising. Cap imposed Late Friday afternoon, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law that places a $3,000 limit on contributions to political committees that push citizen initiatives. Miami Township— Old firehouse utility fees in dispute • The Yellow Springs News

More than a month after the final closing on the sale of the former firehouse on Corry Street, one financial issue remains unresolved. Locally based comedian and actor Dave Chappelle has purchased the property at 225 Corry with the stated intention of turning the building into a comedy club and restaurant. The sale was conducted through the Yellow Springs Development Corporation, or YSDC, on behalf of Miami Township, the original owner, but various circumstances delayed the final closing until March15. As part of the sale process, the YSDC in July purchased the option to sell for a nominal $1. There is a question, however, about who is responsible for the utility fees after the YSDC announced the pending sale to Chappelle in December until the final closing in March. The YSDC thinks the Township is still responsible; the Township disagrees.

Chambersburg school board: Q&A with Region 3 primary election candidates

In the primary election on May 18, the Republican and Democratic races in Region 1 (Letterkenny, Lurgan, Greene 3, Greene 6) and Region 3  (Guilford 2, 4 and 6) are contested. Un-challenged incumbents are seeking the Region 4 (Chambersburg 5-1, Guilford 1) and Region 6 (Hamilton) seats. There are no candidates in Region 7 and Region 8, which have two-year terms.  In Region 3, a veteran local educator and school administrator and a licensed mental health counselor and district parent are vying for the seat. Both have cross-filed, meaning they will appear on both the Republican and Democratic ballots.  Unless there is a write-in campaign, there are two possible outcomes: Each candidate wins one party and both will face off again in the general election in November, or one of them wins both parties nominations and effectively wins the seat.

However, the gathering marked two special events. It was the club’s first “meet and greet” and celebrated the club receiving a national honor. HARA President Pat Hagen, N8PAB, officially welcomed to the amateur radio community the newly licensed Highland County area amateurs. They were Chris Osborne, KE8RVJ, and David Wolfenbarger, KE8RVM, from Hillsboro; Joe Holdren, KE8RVL; and Rindy Matthews, KE8RVP, and Stella Wardlow, KE8RVQ, from Leesburg. Also introduced were Seth Hawthorn, KE8RVO, and Steven Frazier from Washington C.H.
